Loss-of-Control Over Drinking or Drug Use
After someone becomes an alcoholic or a drug addict, he/she has great difficulty using willpower to control the drinking or drug use -- both the amount of the drug used and the time when drinking or drug use begins and ends. An alcoholic or addict who stays abstinent for several months or even years will again have trouble controlling the drinking or drug use if it begins again.
